Soapstone Hand Dish

This dish is a fair trade product handmade in Kenya. It was hand carved out of soapstone, sanded until smooth, and then polished.
Dimensions 5.5x3.75x0.5 inches (14x9.5x1 cm).

Since this dish shows the natural colors of the stone, some color variations should be expected. One can often see shades of cream, gray, pink, and brown in the dish.

Soapstone is a metamorphic rock, known by geologists as talc-schist.
Commonly believed to have a soothing, balancing effect while creating a positive, calming energy. Soapstone is valued for it the way it helps one prepare for changes in life. It is also thought to promote truth, logic as well as rational and creative thinking.

ABOUT SOAPSTONE: Natural Kenyan soapstone is mostly white, but it has variations in color (yellowish, pinkish) due to weathering of the aluminum-rich minerals in the rock. These dishes will show such variations, for each piece is unique. Due to this, I cannot guarantee you'll get a color tone of your preference.
