In retrospect, there was synchronicity in all of this.
Back in June, I decided to get new professional photographs taken for my website (all I had were pictures from 2017 and before) with Robyn Arouty, a local artist I knew I could not afford but I really loved from her works with animals.
We had the most amazing shoot in July. A former therapist turned animal photographer turned artist, Robyn was interested in how I pivoted my life into something completely different and going into energy work, and that my dog, Percy, was an important part of this new world.
Before we had our session, I knew she was retiring a few iconic pieces she used as props for her photographs. Among them there was a blue tufted chair - probably the most popular and iconic piece in her works.
I had been in that chair before, in sessions with other dogs I had in the past, including my Soul dog, Chato. I wanted that chair so badly!. But in my mind I was convinced someone else had already claimed it - who wouldn't have jumped at that opportunity?. But I went ahead anyways and told her I was interested in that chair and what it represented to me.
Well, I got the chair. For free.
It's August now, my photographs freshly out of the oven, and I receive a random invite to an interview with an online magazine I've never heard of. Voyage Houston Magazine highlights local entrepreneurs and small business owners. They told me I needed to provide with my own photographs in order to be featured.
Needless to say, I was so happy because I already had a beautiful set of photographs!.
